Excel V+ is, in my humble opinion, the best vascular platform available to date, for several reasons. The first is that it has two wavelengths, making it possible to treat the superficial and deep component of vascular lesions simultaneously with a single device. Its head is cooled and allows a large spot size, making treatments fast and comfortable. Unlike pulsed dye lasers, excel V+ wavelengths do not necessarily cause purpura, which is an endpoint of vascular treatments that many patients are unwilling to assume. It is worth commenting that, also in comparison to pulsed dye, the V+ is a consumable-free laser and therefore more environmentally friendly.

I have been using the Nd-Yag laser for 20 years, When I discovered this wavelength for the treatment of superficial varicose veins, I was “blown away”. We immediately released a study to share our already impressive results “LASERS in PHLEBOLOGY: Handling, first clinical and hemodynamic impressions of the Nd-YAG Laser (1064 nm) LYRA™” - “ANNALES DE DERMATOLOGIE” 2001, with a series of more than 500 cases rarely equalled. Since then, these Yag Lasers have been perfected, until arriving at the Laser EXCEL V+. Remarkable effectiveness on varicose veins ranging from telangiectasia to reticular varicose veins (diameter from 1 to 3mm), even higher, up to 5 mm in diameter and/or depth. The extremely precise laser beam is delivered with enormous, reliable and reproducible power, according to precise incremented parameters. A great comfort of use with safety, breath-taking and immediate results. Pain on impact is minimized with a stable 5°C Sapphire contact cooling system. From then on, I completely stopped the micro sclerosis, because of the higher yields (one lower half-limb per session), a "clean" treatment without bleeding, fast, not very painful, reaching even voluminous varicose veins: this is the most successful treatment of varicose veins to date.

One of the most common concerns we see in-clinic is facial redness; it can be incredibly distressing for patients. At PHI we have the specialist vascular and pigmentation platform, excel V+ by Cutera. This device is certainly the finest laser I have ever used! This device allows us to get ultra-high absorption in superficial redness using the unique LBO-generated 532 nm wavelength, and we can go deeper with the superb Nd:YAG 1064 nm. We also use the Genesis V handpiece to deliver quick, no downtime treatments for patients who are looking for a more generalised rejuvenation result.

I am very pleased to have collaborated with Cutera’s R&D team on the development of the excel V+. The combination of the 532 nm and 1062 nm wavelengths allows for the treatment of vascular and pigmentation conditions, whether superficial or deep, with a single device. The technological advancements of the new laser enhance an already best-in-class platform. These advances allow for a speedier and more comfortable experience for our patients. It's a reliable, stable, and a system I use every day in my practice.
